Films of 2011 so far (Jan 1st - June 31st)

Over the 6 months of 2011 so far I've seen 87 films with some brilliant films, some terrible ones and some surprises.

Top 10
1. The King's Speech
2. Hanna
3. Senna
4. TT3D: Closer To The Edge
5. Source Code
6. Water For Elephants
7. 127 Hours
8. Cedar Rapids
9. Black Swan
10. Drive Angry

Some films that didn't quite make my list but are worth a mention are: True Grit, Thor, Paul, Unknown, Never Let Me Go, The Adjustment Bureau, The Fighter and X-Men: First Class.

Bottom 10
1. Anuvahood
2. Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son
3. Hop
4. Gulliver's Travels
5. Swinging With The Finkels
6. Honey 2
7. Arther And The Great Adventure
8. The Dilemma
9. Red Riding Hood
10. Beastly

Also terrible were: Just Go With It, Something Borrowed, Yogi Bear, A Turtle's Tale: Sammy's Adventures, Sucker Punch, The Roommate, Your Highness and The Green Hornet.

A few films also manage to surprise me since I wasn't expecting much from them at all. Cedar Rapids had a terrible trailer and I thought this was just going to suck. Amazingly it ended up on my top 10 and I really should get the DVD. Drive Angry was also similar, it just looked to be completele trash. It is complete trash but in a fantastic way. Fast Five was far better that I could have imagined and Chalet Girl was a lot of fun.

The Hangover Part II was terrible in comparison to the first. I had real hope that the film would do something different and sadly it didn't at all. Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is a let down in some regards as I had hoped for a more epic and fun adventure.

A few more terrible films... Dinner For Schmucks, The Wolfman, Space Chimps 2: Zartog Strikes Back, Tooth Fairy, Saw 3D and Shrek Forever After

My biggest surprise of 2010 was Easy A. It didn't quite make my Top 10 but wasn't far off. I expected a terrible teen comedy and was amazed how got it was in comparison to my expectations.

My biggest let down of 2010 was The Lovely Bones. By no means is it a terrible film but I had really high hopes from Peter Jackson and in comparison to his other work it is terrible.

I did exclude a few films for various reasons, for instance Avatar (Special Edition) because I didn't feel it was a new release. I did include The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo even though technically it's a 2009 film because I only saw it in the cinema in 2010. Gulliver's Travels is also excluded because it was 2011 before I had chance to see it. Back To Future, Meet Me In St. Louis, Great Expectations, Singin' In The Rain, Some Like It Hot and Oliver Twist weren't included because they we either re-releases or special presentations.
